Sublingual Semaglutide is a groundbreaking new treatment option for patients suffering from type-2 diabetes, and, under certain conditions, for weight management in patients with or without diabetes.
As a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, Semaglutide mimics the incretin hormones in the body, enhancing insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, suppressing inappropriate glucagon secretion, and slowing gastric emptying to promote satiety and reduce appetite.
To get started prescribing sublingual semaglutide, download the Sublingual Semaglutide Order Form and prit it out.
On the order form, fill in your patient information section, making sure that all of the information is up-to-date and a correct phone number so we can contact the patient about their treatment plan.
After filling out the patient information, fill out your prescriber information in the section below it.
For new patients, we recommend starting with the target dose of 0.25mg, since the half-life of Semaglutide is 5-7 days and we are trying to minimize side effects.
If a dose is ineffective, increase the dosage by 0.25mg to the next stage until an effective dose is found.
Here is a simple treatment roadmap for you to follow for your patients.
As you can see, you begin by prescribing theIntroductory Month Dosing, and if not effective, increase dose to 1 mL QD x 4w, and so on.
If there are no side effects and that dose is effective, continue with that strength and dose.
If there are side effects, stop treatment and re-evaluate.
Next, fill out the pharmacy name as Bayview Pharmacy, and the fax number as (401) 284-4506.
