Formula Information

A small arrow pointing down

7-Keto-DHEA 50 mg Oral Troches are square-shaped solid dosage forms that are designed to dissolve slowly in the mouth. The active ingredient, 7-Keto-DHEA, is delivered through the oral mucosa, allowing for targeted local or systemic effects. This method of administration bypasses the digestive system, potentially enhancing the bioavailability of the medication and reducing gastrointestinal side effects.

7-Keto-DHEA is a metabolite of the hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), which is naturally produced by the adrenal glands. Unlike DHEA, 7-Keto-DHEA does not convert into steroid hormones such as testosterone and estrogen. It is often used for its potential benefits in weight loss, immune system support, and anti-aging effects. However, it's important to note that while some studies suggest potential benefits, more research is needed to confirm these effects and determine optimal dosing.

As a compounding pharmacy, we can customize the dosage and form of 7-Keto-DHEA to meet individual patient needs. This can be particularly beneficial for patients who have difficulty swallowing pills, require a dosage not commercially available, or have allergies to certain ingredients found in standard formulations.

Before starting 7-Keto-DHEA, it's important to discuss potential risks and benefits with your healthcare provider. This includes reviewing your current medications and health conditions to avoid potential interactions or contraindications. Regular monitoring may also be recommended to assess your response to treatment and adjust the dosage if necessary.

As always, if you have any questions about 7-Keto-DHEA 50 mg Oral Troches or any other medication, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy. Our knowledgeable team of compounding pharmacists is here to provide the information and support you need to make informed decisions about your health.

Drug Interactions

A small arrow pointing down

7-Keto-DHEA is a metabolite of the parent hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). It is known for its potential benefits in boosting metabolism and supporting weight loss, enhancing memory, and promoting a healthy immune system. However, like any other medication, it may interact with other drugs, potentially altering their effects or increasing the risk of adverse reactions.

Firstly, 7-Keto-DHEA may interact with medications that affect hormone levels in the body. These include hormone replacement therapies, birth control pills, and certain cancer medications. If you are taking any of these medications, it is crucial to discuss with your healthcare provider before starting 7-Keto-DHEA to avoid potential hormonal imbalances.

Secondly, 7-Keto-DHEA may interact with medications that affect the immune system. This includes immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, and certain chemotherapy drugs. The interaction may potentially enhance the immune-boosting effects of 7-Keto-DHEA, which could interfere with the intended effects of these medications.

Thirdly, 7-Keto-DHEA may interact with medications that affect the liver. Since the liver metabolizes 7-Keto-DHEA, drugs that slow down or speed up liver metabolism could affect the levels of 7-Keto-DHEA in the body. These include certain antifungal medications, HIV drugs, and seizure medications.

Lastly, 7-Keto-DHEA may interact with medications that affect blood clotting. This includes anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs. The interaction could potentially increase the risk of bleeding.

It's important to note that this is not an exhaustive list of potential drug interactions. Other medications, including over-the-counter drugs, herbal products, and dietary supplements, may also interact with 7-Keto-DHEA. Therefore, it is crucial to inform your healthcare provider of all the medications and supplements you are currently taking before starting 7-Keto-DHEA.

As compounding pharmacists, we are committed to ensuring the safe and appropriate use of medications. If you have any questions about 7-Keto-DHEA or its potential interactions with other drugs, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help.

How Does it Work

A small arrow pointing down

7-Keto-DHEA, also known as 7-Ketodehydroepiandrosterone, is a metabolite of the parent hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). It is a naturally occurring substance that is produced in the body's adrenal glands. Unlike DHEA, 7-Keto-DHEA does not convert into estrogen and testosterone, making it a safer alternative for those who need to avoid these hormones.

The 7-Keto-DHEA 50 mg Oral Troches are square-shaped solid dosage forms that are designed to dissolve slowly in the mouth. The medication is delivered through the oral mucosa, which is the mucous membrane lining the inside of the mouth. This allows for a more direct absorption into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system and liver metabolism, which can degrade the medication and reduce its effectiveness.

When the troche dissolves in the mouth, the 7-Keto-DHEA is absorbed through the oral mucosa and enters the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, it travels to the cells where it can exert its effects. 7-Keto-DHEA is thought to increase the activity of thermogenic enzymes, which are involved in the burning of fatty acids. This can lead to increased fat loss, improved lean body mass, and enhanced thermogenesis (the process of heat production in organisms).

7-Keto-DHEA is also believed to have immune-enhancing properties. It may increase the production of immune cells, which can help the body fight off infections and diseases. Additionally, it may have anti-aging effects, as it is thought to decrease the levels of cortisol, a hormone that can contribute to aging.

7-Keto-DHEA 50 mg Oral Troches can be used to treat a variety of disease states. It can be used to support weight loss efforts, particularly in those who have difficulty losing weight due to a slow metabolism. It can also be used to boost the immune system, helping to protect against infections and diseases. Additionally, it may be beneficial for those with age-related conditions, as it is thought to have anti-aging effects.

If you have any questions about 7-Keto-DHEA 50 mg Oral Troches, or if you would like more information about how this formulation can be used to treat specific disease states, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy. Our knowledgeable team of compounding pharmacists is always here to help.

Other Uses

A small arrow pointing down

7-Keto-DHEA is a naturally occurring metabolite of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Apart from its traditional use for specific disease states, 7-Keto-DHEA has been studied for several other potential applications primarily due to its involvement in cellular metabolism and thermogenesis. Literature indicates potential usefulness for the management of obesity as it may increase metabolic rate and promote weight loss. It has also been linked to enhanced immune function.

In the field of sports and fitness, athletes sometimes use 7-Keto-DHEA for its purported ability to increase lean body mass and build muscle, although more research is needed in this area. Some evidence also suggests that the formulation may be helpful in improving cognitive function and memory – initial studies show a possible neuroprotective effect. Furthermore, there is some research that hints at 7-Keto-DHEA's potential in managing stress and relieving symptoms of depression due to its influence on corticoid synthesis.

However, these are potential uses and while promising, much of the research is still preliminary and longitudinal studies are needed for a conclusive decision on these other applications of 7-Keto-DHEA are more than theoretical. As with any medication, patients should consult with their healthcare provider before starting any new treatment regimen. Prescribers should also stay updated with the latest research and consider each patient's unique health profile before prescribing this formulation. This is especially important given the nature of oral troches, which offer a systemic effect and may influence multiple body systems.

If you have any questions about this formulation, including its possible applications and how it could be used within your health management plan, we at Bayview Pharmacy are here to help.
